ABOUT THE BILL REID FOUNDATION COLLECTION
The Bill Reid Foundation Collection consists of 158 works. These include 112 masterworks by Bill Reid - gold and silver jewelry, wood carvings, wire sculptures, drawings, artist proof prints, and memorabilia and works given to Bill Reid by other artists.
In 2001, The BCE Group donated Bill Reid's stunning high-relief bronze frieze called Mythic Messengers. Commissioned by Teleglobe Canada for its headquarters in Burnaby, B.C., and unveiled in 1984, the sculpture is 8.5 m long, 1.2 m high, and 45.7 cm deep.
In 2002, The Bill & Martine Reid Collection was donated to the Bill Reid Foundation by Dr. Martine Reid. This gift, which forms the core of the Bill Reid Foundation Collection, was also made possible through the generous support of the Government of Canada (Canadian Heritage and Western Economic Diversification), foundations and corporations, and numerous individuals including Maurice and Mary Young, Milton and Fei Wong, and Toni and Hildegard Cavelti. It ensures that the Collection remains intact, in the public realm, and in Canada.
